The COVID-19 pandemic has sidelined the cruise industry. After being shut down for over a year, ships will be able to finally sail again in the near future. In their conditional COVID-19 sailing order for cruise ships issued in May 2021, the CDC requires passengers and crew to be tested for COVID-19 shoreside using a sensitive Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAATs) that has been authorized for emergency use by the FDA1. Cruise lines will leverage vaccinations and COVID-19 testing to increase the safety of their passengers and staff.
PerkinElmer can help you you meet the CDC testing requirements for shoreside laboratory COVID-19 screening1.
