Since 1997, PerkinElmer chemagen develops and produces reliable chemagic™ instruments and kits for automated high-throughput nucleic acid purification from human sample materials. The purification of genomic DNA, cfDNA, RNA, or viral DNA/RNA is facilitated through chemagen’s proprietary M-PVA Magnetic Bead technology in combination with our chemagic™ high performance instruments.

Origin of M-PVA Magnetic Bead Technology

In 1997 (acquired by PerkinElmer in 2011) we have started our business with the development, functionalization, and production of magnetic particles based on polyvinyl alcohol, referred to as M-PVA Magnetic Beads. Until today the high scale M-PVA Magnetic Beads manufacturing is still based at the place of their origin in Baesweiler, Germany.

The chemagen magnetic bead technology is realized in the high performance chemagic™ instruments for automated high-throughput DNA and RNA purification. Our flagship, the chemagic 360 instrument enables the automated separation of nucleic acids from sample volumes between 10 µl and 10 ml. Due to its modular setup, the chemagic™ 360 instrument is a highly flexible system which enables high throughput as well as large volume applications. Fully automated high-throughput workflows are realized by the chemagic™ Prime instruments by performing primary sample transfer, DNA and RNA isolation, optional normalization, and PCR setup applications.
