Assessment of Small RNA-Seq Kits for Service Facilities

CeGaT is a CLIA certified and CAP accredited sequencing service provider based in Tübingen Germany. When they established their small RNA sequencing service, they assessed three different small RNA library preparation kits on the following criteria:

• the ability to prepare libraries from very limited amounts of sample material
• the reproducibility of the data generated

After thorough analysis of the above criteria, CeGaT selected the NEXTFLEX^® Small RNA-Seq Kit v3 as the most suitable library preparation protocol for their customers. With it, CeGaT could generate libraries and sequencing results starting from 1 ng of total RNA with reproducible detection of miRNA transcripts.

An additional advantage CeGaT considered was the ability to do gel-free size selection during library preparation which is incorporated into the NEXTFLEX^® Small RNA-Seq Kit v4 protocol.

To offer their customers the best possible technical solution for small RNA sequencing, CeGaT works with the latest Illumina^® sequencing technologies including the Illumina^® NovaSeq^® sequencer. The NEXTFLEX^® Small RNA-Seq Kit v4 is available with 384 UDI barcode primers which are needed for sequencing on an Illumina^® NovaSeq^® instrument and allow labs to maximize sample data integrity.

For higher-throughput requirements, automation kits are available for PerkinElmer^® workstations.
